Welcome to This Jones' Blog - a platform and voice to a whole bunch of things.

I'm not the "keep up with the Joneses" type of Jones. In fact I’m a little different. I am This Jones - a big dreamer, entrepreneur of new ideas, furr-mommy to a spoilt cat, fiancé of an incredible guy, child of hardworking parents and sister of an ambitious brother. My life is also richly blessed with amazing friends and interesting people I meet along the way.

My name is Claudia, I’m a creative thinker born in the 80's. The life journey in becoming who I am today began in my birth town, Bloemfontein. Here I spent most of my childhood adventures on a small holding just outside of town growing up with dogs, a cat named 84 and cheeky guinea fowl.

We relocated to Cape Town when I was 8 years old and now this beautiful city is called home. I lived in a suburb called Durbanville, found on the other side of the Boerewors Curtain, right next door to our famous Table Mountain.

I studied Photography, then Desktop Publishing which lead me to the AAA School of Advertising where I qualified with a BA in Visual Communications. I then worked for a number of companies as a Graphic Designer and went to teach English in Thailand in between. My fiancé and I immigrated to The Netherlands March this year. We absolutely love it here. Currently I'm an awesome Freelance Graphic Designer for myself - This Jones.

This Jones blog, was previously named Things. It started as the voice to my 13 year self who back then, documented life in each age group, hoping to publish a book so that parents could understand children and visa versa. Today, I blog and illustrate in cartoon stick-men drawings of stories back then. I also try to push the capabilities of my iPhone's camera and make videos to capture the amazing places I want to share with you. I started blogging in 2011 and have a modest following on social media, but boast with 37 500+ page views from visitors all over the world. My blog has also been featured on:
  • Inspired Living
  • The Thailand Daily
  • Bloggers.com - editors choice in 2011 (sadly the site does not exist today)
  • Urban Compass

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
